Commissions
Alongside ready-to-buy pieces, Studio Lubin creates custom embroidered works that transform meaningful places and moments into stitched scenes. Each piece is made by hand and developed through conversation, making them especially suited as gifts for loved ones or as a keepsake for yourself. How it works
Every commission is created in close collaboration, allowing your ideas to take shape within the Studio Lubin visual language. To begin a commission, please complete the enquiry form on this page to start the conversation.Below are the steps towards seeing your concept come to life. -
Begin by getting in touch with the subject matter you’d like to have embroidered. This might be:
– a favourite street, neighbourhood or a city
– a memory or moment tied to a location
– specific people, pets or details you’d like included
You’ll be invited to upload reference images (photographs, screenshots or sketches) to help inform the design.
-
Decide what you’d like the scene embroidered onto. Previous commissions have been on shirts, aprons, cushions or bags.
-
Sourcing the item can work in two ways:
You can source the item yourself and have it delivered to my studio. I’m based in the UK, so if you’d like to choose one yourself it would be easiest to order from a UK retailer to avoid high shipping costs.
I can source the item for you in the style, size, colour, and approximate budget you are happy with. I usually work with thrifted or vintage pieces where possible to find something unique and sustainable, though I’m very flexible depending on the look you’re after. I’ll send pictures and links to items I find for you to select from. I charge a £25 sourcing fee per item for this service.
-
Commissions are priced according to the time and detail required to embroider them. Try and be as clear as possible about how people people or different elements you’d like included, and where you would like them placed on the item.
A final price is confirmed once the subject matter and scale are agreed.
-
When enquiring, you’ll be asked when you need the piece by.
Each commission is made by hand and requires time to develop and stitch. Lead times vary depending on scale and current workload, but you’ll be given a clear timeline before work begins.
If your piece is intended as a gift or for a particular date, this can be discussed at the enquiry stage.
